China "Great Hall of the People" Souvenir Opera Masks in Presentation Boxes (2)

Description

These are two very interesting souvenirs from a special evening enjoyed at Beijing's "Great Hall of the People". Included in each satin presentation box is a copy of the dinner menu for that evening, giving a peek into what the chefs have chosen to please the western palate.  The main feature of the boxes are the two different Chinese Opera Masks which are displayed with their names in Chinese characters.  The masks appear to be formed from a composite material and have hand applied features.  I am unsure if they are hand painted or if hand applied decals were used but they are impressive and in vivid colors.  Within each box, there is a small loop at the top of each piece giving the owner the option of removing it from the box and hanging it on a wall.
The navy blue padded satin box measures 6-1/4" x 4-1/2" x 2-1/2".  It bears a Chinese cypher on the lid and a tassel handle for opening.
If you would enjoy having a souvenir of Beijing in the era of Covid, this would be a very nice example of a visit to the "Great Hall of the People".
