Rare Chinese Inkstone Signed 祁寫藻 Qing Opium Ban Official & 3 Emperors' Teacher

DESCRIPTION:
A rare piece of antique Chinese Qing dynasty inkstone with inscription & signature. Upper side carved with a gold fish or carp, amongst lotus leaves & flower bud. Back inscribed with a poem depicting the scene. Signed 祁寫藻 (1793-1866)& he was an official involved in the opium ban in 1839, which triggered the Opium War. In addition, he was the royal/imperial teacher of 3 emperors: Daoguang, Xianfeng & Tongzhi.
Appears to have been heavily used & all details are rather worn. Would not surprise if it was his favorite piece because the carved subject is part of his name: aquatic plant. The piece fits nicely & comfortably in the palm & possibly a traveling piece with him for many years. A rare piece that actually linked to an important part of Chinese history.
The stone itself is a little dark grayish-beige color. The blacks are the residual of dried ink.
Reportedly acquired from a Los Angeles Chinatown estate in the 1970's

Approx. 5 3/8 inches long, 3.75 in. wide & a little over half inch thick.
CONDITION:
No damage, just the normal flaws from heavy use, with minor scratches, bumps, nicks, … etc
